Below you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions we recieve about the Aquatic Center at New Mexico State University. Click on a question to see the answer.
General Aquatic Center Questions
- What are the Aquatic Center's Hours?
- The Hours of Operations for the Aquatic Center are Monday through Friday 6am to 9pm, Saturday 7am to 7pm, and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. Visit the Aquatic Center home page to view Recreational Swimming Hours.
- When is the best time for lap swim?
- The Aquatic Center offers lap swimming throughout the duration of our 6:00am-9:00pm hours. However, certain times, such as 6:00am-7:30am and 4:30pm-7:00pm, are times that are occupied by various swim teams and therefore make the pools much more crowded.
- Can I swim if I'm not a student?
- In order to swim at the NMSU Aquatic Center, you must be an AggieFit member or full-time main campus student. If you are not, you can come as a guest of someone who is and pay the daily swim fee of $5.00.
- As a student or AggieFit member, can I bring guests?
- Students and AggieFit members are allowed no more than three guests per day. Sponsoring student or AggieFit member must be present at the time of guests visit.
- If I do not have a parking sticker, where should I park?
- There are 4 parking meters in front of the Aquatic Center available for anyone to park in, but if you park in a labeled campus lot without a permit you will be towed. NMSU does have a few free lots, located just east of the Activity Center and South of the soccer fields.
- Where can I find goggles, swim caps, and/or swim wear?
- The Aquatic Center sells a variety of goggles, swim caps, nose plugs, ear plugs and swim diapers for a relatively inexpensive cost. Swim wear can be purchased at the local Big 5, or other locations around Las Cruces.
- When can I bring my children?
- Children under the age of 14, must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Aquatic Center encourages bringing children only during the scheduled Recreation Hours. These vary depending on time of year, so call the Aquatic Center at 575.646.3518, or drop by to obtain a current schedule. However, if a parent or guardian would like to bring their children during Lap Swim only times, children must adhere to the Aquatic Center Safety and Etiquette.
- Are there any fitness classes offered?
- All our fitness classes are listed at AggieFit.org.
Summer Pool Passes
- If I am not a full-time NMSU student, but am affiliated with the University, where can I obtain a swim pass?
- At the Aquatic Center or AggieFit office (Room 103) inside the Activity Center.
- How much is a Summer Pool Pass?
- $75 for adults and $35 for each child.
- How long is the Pool Pass valid?
- May 24 - August 15, 2010.
- Who is eligible to buy a pool pass?
- Only NMSU Faculty/Staff/Students may purchase a pool pass. Affiliates and temporary employees are not eligible.
- Is the Pool Pass prorated?
- Beginning July 1 it will be $35.50 (adults) and $17.50 (for each child). This period ends on August 15, 2010.
- Are pool passes available year-round?
- No, pool passes are only available for the summer.
